MODULES

Module 6 - Design and Simulation for ALM

This module aims to evaluate the design for manufacture and design for ALM methodologies related to AM products and AM product design and development strategies. Students will consider the process simulation and part optimisation strategies including those that are new or emerging for the AM domain covered within the wider course material.


Methods and approaches


The module aims to develop knowledge in the following areas:


· Understanding of the design for manufacturing constraints associated with metal and polymer based ALM components and to address future developments in advanced manufacturing technologies.


· Understanding the thermodynamic and topological requirements needed for the manufacture of components by ALM based processes for bespoke and unfamiliar situations.


· Analysis case study data to offer an optimal design to produce multiple parts across different platforms.
